Spotlight on Pinxton

Ideally situated at the junction of the major trunk roads of the A38 and M1 with easy access to both the surrounding countryside and to local amenities is possibly how a local Estate Agent might describe the village of Pinxton. Proof if it were needed that Pinxton has much to offer today’s property market for both home buyers and property investors alike. Retaining its village appeal Pinxton has changed somewhat since it was first thought to be mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086 and it has undergone various transformations over time.

From a rural village to what has been described as a miniature industrial revolution with the arrival of a branch of the Cromford Canal. I’ve seen Pinxton described as a ‘coal mining village of Derbyshire’ but that description really doesn’t do the village justice and Pinxton really does have more to offer both residents and investors now that we have moved into the 21st Century.

This village can boast more local amenities than many villages of a similar type in the area, it has educational facilities at Nursery, Infant and Primary levels with a secondary school in the neighbouring village of South Normanton. It has a village surgery, 2 churches, a post office, pharmacy, several shops and convenience stores, a village hall and a launderette.

Pinxton also offers various light industrial and services employment opportunities and is within easy access of the major cities of Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and of course London via the M1 motorway. Having retained its village identity residents join together and meet for various shared interests, societies and clubs and it even has its own football club. Whilst there has been recent unprecedented interest in the rental market nationwide, Pinxton has its own viable rental market.

A property for rent in the village recently attracted over 100 enquiries in a short space of time such is the popularity and buoyancy of the current rental market here. To give you some idea of how vibrant the property sales market in Pinxton really is I have collated some recent statistics for you to review.
